Parasite wood is from Bali and is so named because of the imprint left by a parasitic plant which grows on the host tree (a kind of tropical mistletoe). The wood is then used by local artisans to carve a fascinating variety of plants and animals. The tree most commonly used is the Chinaberry tree (Melia azedarach).
